Working with Warmill Jewel Bases

Working with Warmill Jewel Bases

Warmill Jewel bases are laser-engraved onto acrylic to ensure the highest possible quality, and can be painted and flocked just like regular bases, but if you decide to keep them transparent the last thing you want to do is ruin them putting your miniatures on them!  For this reason, we have provided this guide on how to attach plastic and resin miniatures to your Warmill Jewel bases.

  • SUPERGLUE
Most brands of superglue will cause clouding on acrylic, especially if you use a great big dollop of it! For this reason, avoid cheap, runny superglues and look for clear-drying, acrylic-safe superglues such as Loctite Super Glue gel.

  • PLASTIC CEMENT
This is pretty much any polystyrene cement, plastic cement, model glue, etc, as seen here . Any model or toy shop will sell something suitable, you probably already have some in your toolbox. Be aware that as the glue works by melting the surface of the plastic, use it sparingly to get the best finish possible.

  • PLASTIC WELD
This is the best option for attaching plastic models. Also known as Dichloromethane or Dichlo, the most common brand is EMA Plasticweld. Use it by holding the parts to be glued together and brush a small amount of it along the join. The join will be nearly invisible and very strong.

  • SILICON ADHESIVE
Essentially bathroom or plumber's adhesive, silicon adhesive dries clear but takes a while to set properly. On the plus side, it can be smeared around easily and gives you time to reposition parts unlike superglue.

Please note we are not affiliated with the websites linked to in this article and don't recommend them in any way, they were just some of the first ones found with a bit of googling. We accept no responsibility for any bad things that may happen if you use any of them, eat the glue, glue your hands to a passing helicopter, etc, etc.
