To broaden the possibilities of the Jewel bases, we offer a range of colours and mirrored acrylics. We can also make your bases from wood or other materials, so don't hesitate to ask!
Below is the current range of colours and acrylic types we have availaible. All are availiable in 3mm thickness, please email us in advance to check stock levels and enquire about 5mm availabilities.
We start off with the standard clear bases - these bases are made from high quality clear acrylic and have their surface engraved to a high quality depcting your chosen artwork.

The mirrored bases are somewhat different, as the artwork is engraved on the underside of the base, and removed the mirror film, leaving reflective detail. These really are something to behold, and offer views of your models on them like never before!

The Fluorescent acrylic bases offer the same high quality as the clear, but have special light trap properties that where the base is engraved or cut, the edges appear to emit light. The Fluorescent bases offer depth and add a quality not found anywhere else.

Another method to finish off your Warmill Jewel bases is to use a coloured permanent marker. By filling in the edges of your clear bases, you can give them an outer glow which is picked up by the engraving detail on the base. This is a grate way to add some detail or to embellish a certain part of the base.

The bases with the maker pen edges.

These mirrored bases have their backs filled with the marker pen to great effect.

The below image hasn't had the marker pen treatment - but has had the reverse painted with a bright green colour - This possibly works better than using the marker pens as you can build the colour up with a few coats of paint - the detail is amplified and makes a great contrasting base. Because the mirror is opaque, you can paint the back very sloppily but the detail on the front will still be ultra sharp!

When we first prototyped the bases, our initial idea was that people would want to paint the bases to match their units and colour scheme of their armies. After getting the bases in the hands of gamers, most people preferred to leave them clear. That isn't to say that you cannot paint them! They take paint very well and can be painted with the same hobby paints that you use on your figures.

As mentioned in the opening paragraph, we offer a two tier type base that can be found across the range of WarMill bases. These bases allow us to use the mirrored acrylic, whilst keeping the standard 5mm high base type gamers and modellers expect. It also helps when we create our command squad bases, as the technique lends itself perfectly to it.
